Departments

FICA fulfills its responsibilities through six departments: Transportation, Horticulture and Landscaping, Public Safety, Accounting, Administration and Human Resources.

 

 

Island Transportation

The Fisher Island Transportation Department is open every day of the year, 24 hours each day, to serve your transportation needs.

Transportation Department ferries operate every day to accommodate private passenger vehicles less than 24 feet long and 8 feet wide, emergency vehicles, designated commercial vehicles less than 24 feet long and 8 feet wide, and Membersí vehicle and trailer combinations less than 40 feet long and 8 feet wide.

On weekdays, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., ferries depart from the Fisher Island and mainland ferry terminals every 10 minutes. At other times ferries depart every 15 minutes except Sunday through Thursday between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. when ferries operate on demand.

On weekdays, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., barges depart from the Port of Miami and the Fisher Island barge terminal every 20 minutes. Barges do not operate on weekends or holidays. Ferry service is available to commercial vehicles without external loads, less than 24 feet long and 8 feet wide, on Sundays, holidays, and weekdays after 7:00 p.m.

 

Public Safety

The Fisher Island Public Safety Department is a multi-function department comprised of officers with various security experiences in both the private and public sectors. These officers have been trained to perform Security, First Aid and AED life saving techniques. The Public Safety Officers currently man numerous strategic posts 24 hours a day 7 days a week throughout the island which assist in a quicker response time, more efficient patrolling and providing our elite Members and guests a level of customer service that can only be obtained on Fisher Island. The Public Safety Department also works closely with an on the island based Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Station on fire suppression, fire safety inspection and other life saving techniques for all departments on the island.

The Fisher Island Public Safety Department also operates the Main Land Ferry Access Point located on MacArthur Causeway, the Barge Access Point located within the Port of Miami and the Guest and Resident Marinas located on Fisher Island. Officers assigned to these Access Control locations work closely with our Guest Clearance Agents who are responsible for ensuring that all Members, guest, employees and vendors who wish to obtain access to Fisher Island obtain the proper clearance.

Guest Clearance Agents dispatch all 911, and non-emergency calls for the department.

Horticulture & Landscaping

The Fisher Island Landscaping Department is a full service operation comprised of landscape development, landscape maintenance, irrigation maintenance, and nursery operation. With the Islands most extensive equipment inventory, 7 day a week landscape staff, and onsite nursery, the Fisher Island Landscape Department has the ability to deliver on its promises to its clients, all the while accommodating to their changing timetables.
